About Us

How we started

Our Story

We are  a Community Interest Company (CIC). Which means rather than earning large profit, we invest money back in to the local community. Providing much needed community events, community centre upkeep, environmental projects, accessible transport services, health and wellbeing programs, food banks, and other initiatives that directly benefit the community they serve.

We are all about community!

Bed4night came about during a bike packing trip through France. Always one for travelling light – minus tent – I had booked various b’n’b’s along my route. What I hadn’t taken into account was the distance I’d travel each day, or the weather…or accessibility, or availability…or affordability…

It became clear that there was very little and what there was, turned out to be unsuitable on arrival – three flights of stairs with a backpack and bike anyone? A door that opens onto the bed, meaning I couldn’t actually get my bike in! All for a price of 160 Euros – I’m a mum, from Yorkshire…

I had my lightbulb moment! There are many people living alone – some lonely – with spare space. Whether that be a farm house with outbuildings, spare bedroom, or garden space.

Our host profiles list their facilities. Allowing you to filter by what you are looking for. I.e; shower, food, storage, place to charge your devices etc.

Our Values

Connection Over Commercialism

At bed4night, we believe in restoring the human side of travel. We value real, meaningful connections between guests and hosts. Our model encourages visitors to stay in real homes, meet real people, and gain genuine insights into the places they explore. In a world dominated by faceless platforms, we champion personal stories and shared experiences.

Reducing Rural Isolation

A core part of our mission is to reduce social isolation in rural communities. Many of our hosts live in areas where tourism exists, but personal interaction has been lost. By opening their homes to travellers, hosts have a chance to connect, converse, and feel part of a wider world again – creating mutual wellbeing for both host and guest.

Sustainable, Responsible Travel

We value a slower, more sustainable form of tourism that works with — not against — the needs of local communities. Instead of holiday lets that displace residents or disrupt neighbourhoods, bed4night promotes stays that complement the existing fabric of rural life. It’s travel with a conscience: rooted in place, people, and purpose.

Access to the Outdoors for All

Our platform is shaped with outdoor enthusiasts in mind — walkers, cyclists, wild swimmers, and nature lovers. But we also believe everyone should feel welcome in nature, regardless of background or budget. By connecting travellers with local hosts in national park areas and countryside villages, we help make the outdoors more accessible, welcoming, and inclusive for all.

Responsibility

At bed4night, we take responsibility seriously — for our hosts, our guests, and the communities we’re part of. We encourage thoughtful, low-impact travel that respects people, places, and the planet. Whether it’s making sure hosts feel supported or helping guests tread lightly in rural areas, we’re committed to doing things the right way — with care, honesty, and purpose.

Innovative

bed4night was built on a simple idea — but we’re always looking for new, creative ways to make rural travel more meaningful. Whether it’s our flexible approach to hosting, how we connect people through shared interests, or how we make booking easy without losing the personal touch, we’re proud to do things a little differently. Innovation for us means keeping things human, useful, and always evolving.
